Holy shit! I, a somewhat-known Sonic the hedgehog despiser, drew a Sonic picture. There's actually a bit of a story behind this. For those who don't know, Mario and Sonic are going to be in a game together at the end of the year where they compete in the Olympics. Yeah, sounds stupid, but it could be fun. I mean, look at Wii sports. Anyway, I'm learning Flash, and ever since I heard about flash, I've always wanted to make a Nintendo themed cartoon. This Olympic thing looks fun enough to make a cartoon based on it, but that would require me to draw Mario's longtime nemesis, Sonic. I've actually written an entire script for this cartoon, so after the voices and a quick animatic, I get to have some FUN.

So what's with this picture? Well, for the past week, I've been learning about Sonic. Being a Mario enthusiast, I didn't really know much about the Sonic universe. Luckly, is a regular Sonic encyclopedia, filling me in on everything. After looking into it, I realized that I found the old version on Sonic much more interesting than the one he is now. Back when he was being first created, yeah he basically was a Mario rip off with "attitude" made for the sole purpose to compete with Nintendo, but there was something to that version I find more pure than the furry anime drivel he's become in the later years. I still support Mario all the way, but if I had to choose between old and new Sonic, I would definately go with the old one. The new one's too serious, I honestly cannot take Sonic the Hedgehog seriously. No matter how many anime humans they cram in his environment, no matter how much mecha they add, no matter how "deep" the stories are, I cannot take a blue hedgehog running really fast seriously, plain and simple.

That still doesn't explain the picture. I watched a few episodes of that old Sonic cartoon. Well actually all three of them. there's the original serious cartoon, which I found boring as all hell, there's that shitty one where they play musical instruments, which I found boring and embarassing. And then there's the silly irritating one which interested me the most. Probably because I like things less real than they are, and again, I can't take Sonic seriously at all. Hell, he's played by URKEL for Christ's sake. In it, there's Scratch and Grounder, a pair of robots. Utterly unbearable robots. And since I seem to be attracted to the worst forms of entertainment, I chose to draw them, with their next trap for Sonic. Dr. Robotnik was also in the picture, but I have a special picture lined up for him.

So anyway, enjoy the picture. Wait. I know you will because it's Sonic. Not because of any techniques I used, or color choices, or how the characters are drawn. You'll favorite it because it's Sonic. Don't try to hide it, I know you will.

I'll keep anyone interested posted on how the cartoon is going, too. Just note me here and there and I'll update.

...What use is a chicken robot anyway? See, Grounder has some sort of use, he has drills for hands, but a chicken robot? What the hell? Go home Scratch, no one likes you.
